Madou Toastmasters Meeting no. 2

We held our second meeting on Tuesday, May 13. That day we held our chartering ceremony. It was a very important event for our school and our community, and therefore moved the venue for the meeting to a bigger conference room of Diwan University.

Susan Su, a very experienced toastmaster belonging to three different clubs, was the toastmaster of the evening.

Dr. Jim Hu filled in as the timer. He did a very good job, considering he was asked to fill the position five minutes before the meeting.

Sean Wang, a new member, was the "ah" counter. He also did a great job.

Mey Hsue, our Vice President of membership, was the joke master for the meeting.

After many laughs, Will Lin, a professor at Diwan University, began the manual speech section with his C1 speech.

He was followed up by his student Dan Chen who also introduced himself in his C1 speech. Both speakers did a very good job, and I'm sure are grateful to move on to there C2 speech.

Because we were planning on holding a chartering ceremony, we held our table topics section before the intermission. Eliza Yan was the table topic master. She led the speakers to give some entertaining responses with the question "Describe your most embarassing situation."

During intermission, Diwan University's bartending club was invited to provide refreshments. In addition, the ambassador's club was present to assist the guests in finding everything they needed. We were very grateful for their assistance, and it gave our meeting a special ambiance.

After the intermission we had the evaluation session. Ruby Lai was the general evaluator, but her picture did not turn out here. This picture is of Chin-chi Lai, who was Will's evaluator.

Erlin Zhang was Dan's evaluator. Both evaluators gave the speakers some good ideas for how to improve when they give their C2 speech.

Gina Wu, of Shin-ying toastmasters, was the grammarian for the evening.

Will was the best speaker of the evening, and he shared his prize with his student Dan.
Heinzel Kunsmann, VPE of Madou Toastmasters, was the best table topic speaker.

Erlin was the best evaluator.

Afterwards we held the chartering ceremony in which the Madou Toastmasters officers were all recognized. The chartering ceremony was led by David Tsui, the founder of Shin-ying Toastmasters. Hope to see you all at our next meeting on Tuesday, May 27. We will hold it in our original venue - Building A room 317.

Our second meeting will be Tuesday, May 13 at 7:00. That day we will hold our opening ceremony, and therefore need to change the venue. We will still be at Diwan University, but the location will change to 致宏摟. That is building number 1 on the map, but is referred to as building C on campus. We will meet in the third floor conference room. Please refer to the attached agenda and contact list. If you cannot fulfill one of your responsibilities, please contact Heinzel as soon as possible. 0919160761
