Meeting no. 4 June 10, 2008

We held our last meeting of the semester on Tuesday, June 10. It was filled with a lot of last minute changes, but as usual everything worked out as it always does - thanks to the Toastmaster motto "always say yes to any job someone asks you to do." Victor Shen the charter president was not available for the meeting, and therefore Heinzel Kunsmann, the VPE, filled in as a substitute.

The biggest surprise was that Ricky Chen, the originally scheduled toastmaster was not able to attend the meeting because of an emergency. Therefore David Tsui of Shin-ying toastmaster didn't hesitate to volunteer and fill in for him. David did an excellent job of improvising as the toastmaster.

Thomas Liou, a second year student in the Applied English Department was the timer for the evening. He explained the timing rules very clearly.

Kai-i, a part-time teacher in the Applied English Department, was the "ah" counter. She had everyone laughing with her introduction.

Patrick Teng, a first year student, in the Applied English Department was the joke master for the evening. He got everyone warmed up to listen to the manual speech section.

Nymph Chen, a second year student in the Applied English Department, was the first C1 speaker of the evening. She prepared a very beautiful power point presentation introducing herself.

Eliza Yan, Madou Toastmasters secretary, was the second C1 speaker of the evening. Although she had a cold, she did a great job telling everyone about herself.

Apple Sye, another second year student in the Applied English Department, was the third and final C1 speaker of the evening. Her speach was very entertaining as well.

Mey Suye, a graduating student of the Tourism Department and VP of Membership, was the table topic master of the evening. We will be very sad to see her go, since she is graduating.

Camila Wu, current president of Shin-ying Toastmasters, headed the evaluation section of the meeting.

The first evaluator was Jack Lu, our Vice President of Public Relations.

Dan Chen, of the Managment Information Systems Department, was Eliza's evaluator. He did an excellent job filling in at the last moment.
Heinzel Kunsmann, the Vice President of Education, was the evaluator of Apple.
John, a new member of our club, got the best Table Topic award by telling us what things in Taiwan he would like to introduce to a foreigner.
Jack Lu got the best evaluator award, and then humbly announced he would like to share the award with Dan Chen.
Nymph Chen got the best speaker award of the evening.
We hope you can join us for our first meeting in September. You can visit this website around that time to be informed about exactly when and where that meeting wil take place. Hope to see you then!

We will have our fourth meeting on Tuesday, June 10 at 7:00 PM at our usual venue. Please look at the agenda to see if you have any responsibilities. If you do and cannot fulfill them, please contact Heinzel Kunsmann at 0919160761 or the toastmaster for the evening.
