March 25, 2008 2nd Demo Meeting

On March 25 we held our 2nd demo-meeting. Many people attended, and the presentations were all excellent. We now have our 5 basic officers, and 14 people have pledged to become members when we charter our club. All in all it was a very successful meeting. Special recognition should go to Jack Lu our Vice President of Public Relations. We could not have prepared the meeting so well without his limitless dedication and commitment.
The agenda for the meeting can be found here.
Here is our officer roster.

Victor Shen our charter president signed in for the evening, with the help of Mei Syue, or Vice President of Membership.

One of our new members, Apple Chen, helped Mei as the receptionist.

Professor. Will Lin was the "Ah" Counter, and Eliza Yen was the timer.

Here's the man himself in flesh and blood - Jack Lu! He was the joke master of the evening, but also played many other key roles as well to ensure that the meeting ran smoothly. This is important since we are a new club and the potential for disaster is high.

Many experienced toastmasters from other clubs also came to support us and help to maintain the integrity of the meeting. From left to right: Mickey Chuang (VPE of the Shin-ying club), David Tsui (Charter President of Shin-ying club), as well as a distinguished guest from the Tainan City Toastmasters Club.

Many people came to attend the meeting. We hope to officially enroll some of them before the next meeting.

The first manual speaker of the evening was Tim Wu from ALE Toastmasters in Tainan City. We was the area winner with this speech about renting a home.

Chin-chi Lai of Shin-ying Toastmasters was the other speaker of the evening. She gave her C8 speech about the effects of music on the intelligence in babies.

Julius from Tainan Toastmasters was one of the speakers during the Table Topics section. He was the winner at the area competition.

Many guests were present and introduced themselves.

The awards for the evening were as follows:

Best Table Topic Speaker: Mei Syue

Best Evaluator: Ruby Lai

Best Manual Speaker: Tim wu

Hope you can come join our next meeting (our third demo meeting) on Tuesday, April 8 from 7:00 to 9:00. It will be held at Diwan University in room 317 of building A.
